objectively speaking

there are two sides, b and c, they have been at war with each other for ages. the reasons have changed like the climates on the playing field but the constant is that they are at war with each other.

b doesnt like c and vis versa. b kills, rapes, maims, captures c's people and c likewise does the same intermittently using b's children to kill, maim, etc...

d walks in and takes a look around. he does not belong to side b or c, he is d, an independent, there out of his own needs and desires to further himself in the land of d. the conflict of b and c is not important to him. he is there to fulfill his own needs and this is not his fight. is d a bad man, an unconscionable being, heartless, or is d simply an innocent, a bystander, looking beyond the war to opportunity and supplying his world's demand?

can b or c blame d for being there? their land has what his needs and neither of them are capitalising on its full potential. he is a willing buyer and they, willing sellers. why is he to blame for their conflict, why is it his duty to fix their problems, why should he get involved?

when r b or c going to look around and ask what are we doing to each other rather than why is d here?

so the title aint that apt but nonetheless i have decided to use this blog to promote all those that are immediately in need of attention...
see red today the 1 december in order to commemorate and step up to do something about the zillions of people battling and still contracting this disease... this is the celebrity taking it seriously appeal ...
help data who are letting you in on the 411 of all the statistics out there pertaining to the aids epidemic and are people out there on the ground trying to sort it out and make people aware in the attempt to rid africa of the stigma of the epidemic...
if you need treatment information, have just found out that you are infected, want to donate etc...
obviously the big guns that got this day started should be mentioned, so big up to the world heath organisation...
Kofi Anan has an opinion on what the world needs to get done and is exercising his freedom of speech through the united nations...
the world aids campaign is trying to make everyone aware, keep people informed, and work towards a solution...

these are the tip of the iceberg of organisations that are trying to get everyone onto the same plane, get the world active and hopefully devise a solution for what we hope will become a manageable or even curable disease.
the problem in africa, where i think the epidemic is racing along at the quickest pace is, people are ill informed, there is a lack of education, the stigma of testing or having the disease persists, governments are either silent or lacking in effective opinions and these are merely the immediate problems that can be thought of.
without the continent knowing the facts, people who educate others, the arrests of those who peddle snake drugs as cures and for those in the position to voice an active opinion on the topic rather that ignoring the problem, lacking an opinion, thinking showers may help and then actually letting the masses know your thoughts, others who think potatoes are ok and presidents not talking... all these wonderful agencies that are trying to help are going to continue to exercise their strengths in vane...
today needs to be about ensuring an educated dialog!

i have very extreme mixed emotions about humanitarian aid serviced by the ideology that a click of a finger and the worlds woes will vanish...
i want people to get involved and work towards a solution but at the same time i sit back and snear with a churning feeling that somehow the reality of the plight that is the continent is lost on hollywood, celebrity and those who should have more sense...
this is where the dualism begins. i want them to realise what the fuck is actually happening outside of their gazillion star lifestyle but when this happens i actually want the reality of the situation to set in...

for a while now i have heard that the click of the finger is going to sort out world hunger, death from disease etc yet still the brevity of the situation escapes them...
clicking your fingers is not decreasing the amount of sqautter camps that line the highways, decreasing the death toll, nor putting food or books in front of her children. not that i want anyone not to help, everyone needs to get involved but then do that... africa needs skills development, ideas, creativity, an opening into the free market without all the strings attached, people to build her infrastructure both physically and intellectually...

if you continue to treat africa as the starving cousin, riddled with disease, unable to fend for herself well, the indoctrination is believed and perpetuated. africa doesnt need handouts... given it is perceived that all it takes is some cash which you throw at the problem and away it goes but out in the undeveloped world they need hard work and skills together with the bling to get things working. this will take just slightly more than hollywood simultaneously with the rest of the world clicking their proverbial finger...
